C-SECTION & ABDOMINAL SCAR ReleasE
For healing, balance and connection
Scars are an important and often missed source of physical discomfort, emotional holding and nervous system dysregulation.
Tension in scars and surrounding tissues can create a push-pull effect through multiple layers and types of tissues. This impacts the position and function of pelvic tissues and organs, changes sensations, reduces flow and drainage in tissues, constricts your breath, contributes to shelfing around the scar and can cause pain in your back, neck, chest, abdomen, hips and pelvis.
If your scar was formed during nervous system dysregulation or high emotions, the tissue can hold this experience and impact healing and body-brain connection.
Scar Release of caesarean-section and abdominal scars uses gentle external touch and release techniques to return mobility and softening into your whole body, moving through the many layers of soft tissue impacted by scars to bring comfort and balance back into the tissues and supporting structures.
YOUR SCAR HOLDS A STORY.
You can benefit from SCAR Release if you HAVE SCARS FROM:
Caesarean-section birth
Hysterectomy
Endometriosis, adenomyosis and ovarian surgeries
Laparoscopies
Pelvic or lower abdominal surgeries (appendectomy, resection, removal of organs, tube/drain sites, cosmetic or oncological surgeries)
Pelvic or lower abdominal trauma
Please note: if you require release of perineal or vaginal scars, please book an Internal Pelvic Release Work session.
What’s involved in a SCAR Release session:
A C-Section or Abdominal Scar Release session a chance for you to be held, listened to and care for. This usually involves:
A discussion about your experience of your birth or the surgery and what led to it, as well as your healing and your relationship with your scar
A sharing of knowledge about relevant anatomy to help you understand and connect with your body
An assessment of your breath, the scar and supporting structures, and a discussion of any issues you may be experiencing
Gentle breath guidance to enhance your body-brain connection and settle your nervous system
A combination of fascial, ligamentous and muscular bodywork techniques on structures that support and are impacted by the scar to release tension and bring balance to your whole body
Release of the scar itself to move through and release the layers of tissue caught up in the scar (skin, fascia, muscle, fat, viscera and ligaments) using specialised massage, cupping and guasha techniques
Guidance on how to continue with self-care and further release work at home
Individualised breathing or mindfulness practices to support scar release

MEET YOUR Practitioner
I’m an Internal Pelvic Release Work practitioner, Bodyworker, Registered Nurse, Childbirth Educator, Yoga and Meditation Teacher and mother to two beautiful young children.
After 16 years as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Educator in Australia and abroad, I noticed a troubling trend in the health practitioner-patient relationship concerning women’s health. Many women are being advised not to trust or understand their bodies, losing touch with their intuition when seeking answers to their physical, mental, and emotional signs and symptoms. With my background in supporting women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond as a Yoga teacher and Childbirth Educator, I wanted to offer my community more.
I offer knowledgeable, empowering and nurturing care with bodywork and release techniques that realign, reconnect and heal. I believe you are the expert of your own body-mind-energy, and I am here to help you reconnect with that wisdom and find the answers that modern medicine often overlooks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Scar Release is suitable once the scar has completely healed and there are no signs of scabbing or infection. For most surgeries, this is 8 weeks.
-
If you have had a caesarean-section birth, book a Scar Release session. Your initial care session includes a discussion about pregnancy and birth and bodywork techniques to release pregnancy-related tension and postpartum discomfort just like a Postpartum Bodywork session, but also includes Scar Release techniques.
-
Altered sensations in scars is common but not normal. These sensations and reactions indicate that your scar would benefit from release work.
-
Absolutely. Releasing tension from your scar/s and realigning your body will support balance and comfort in your scar and uterus in future pregnancies.
Releasing tension from your back and abdomen will also support posture and prevent discomfort in pregnancy.
-
Yes! Your body holds patterns of tension in and around the scar for years - decades, even - and can be impacting your comfort, connection and mobility even today. Scars are never to old to benefit from release work.
-
The number of sessions is dependent on you as an individual, what we discover together in your body, and your response to the care session. As a general rule, most women require 3 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart, for optimal benefits to be achieved.
-
Please just come as you are, no preparation is necessary.
-
After care is important for Scar Release. Your tissues will take some time to settle into balance, so plan to take it easy for 48-72 hours after your care session. Plan to return to a quiet space where you can integrate what you’ve learnt about your body. A warm bath and heat packs can feel really nurturing. A high-protein meal can help nourish the tissues you’ve worked with.
You’ll be supported at home with homework tailored to your needs.
-
It’s ideal to have Scar Release without little people present, so you can nourish your nervous system, focus on yourself and be uninterrupted. If you need your baby or child present, please have a carer with you to entertain them.
